Itinerary

(B)= breakfast / (L)= lunch / (D)= dinner

Day 1: Cusco - Santa María (L) (D)
The tour starts with a car ride to Abra Malaga, a mountain pass on 4350 meters. We will have some opportunities to take some pictures along the way as well. From Abra Malaga we will make a 3 - 4 hour downhill ride by mountain bike. This ride is exhilarating and relaxing at the same time, and will not be soon forgotten.
When we finally arrive in Santa Maria (1430 m.), we will have some free time to rest (or explore) before having dinner and calling it a night.

Day 2: Santa María - Santa Teresa (B) (L) (D)
We will begin the day’s trekking after having an energy packed breakfast in the hostal. We will now be entering the jungle area, as will be easily noted by the flora and fauna that we will see here. Walking through the tropical forest, we will have many photo opportunities with the gorgeous surrounding. At the highest point of the trail, we will come across an old Inka Trail.
At last, when we arrive to Santa Teresa, we can relax in the hot baths with mineral enriched spring water there. Afterwards, we will have dinner and enjoy a welcome sleep.

Day 3: Santa Teresa - Aguas Calientes (B) (L) (D)
Will begin at 6:30 am with a typical breakfast. This day will be an even more tropical as we draw nearer and nearer to the ancient city of the Inca’s. We will walk for 5 – 6 hours by the truck road to Hidroelectrica, where there is a sacred ceremonial site, IntiHuatana waiting for us, from here we will get Aguas Calientes trekking by the rail way. In Aguas Calientes we will immediately transfer to our hotel for the night. That night we will share a dinner with our guide as he briefs us on the next day’s plans before going to sleep.

Day 4: MachuPichu (B)
We will wake up extremely early, at 4:00 am, to start trekking up the mountain to Machu Picchu in time to catch the sunrise at top. It will be approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to reach the top. When we arrive our guide will give us a 2 hour guided tour, telling us all about the rich history of the ancient ruins around us. The guide can teach us about all that is known about the site so far.
After the guided part of the tour, you will have some free time to explore the ruins on your own. If you want to climb Huayna Pichu, then it is recommended that you go to the trail head immediately after the tour, because they only allow a limited number of persons in per day. The steep climbing trip to the peak of Huayna Picchu is about an hour and a half and it is worth it for the stunning views from the top, but it should be noted that the portion at the top with the stairs is moderately hazardous.
