The city tour starts in the impressive Colonial Cathedral in Cusco that contains over 400 paintings of several artists from Cusco and also some beautiful altars. After that we go to visit the Temple of the Sun, Qoricancha, the main religious center of the Incas dedicated to the God of the Sun. According to the chroniclers, the walls of this temple were entirely covered with gold.

From here we go by bus to visit the four ruins at less than 8 km from Cusco, including Sacsayhuamán, famous for its enormous carved rocks, Puca Pucara, Q´enqo and Tambomachay.

The ancient Inca city Machu Picchu is situated behind the Sacred Valley and is hidden in the mountain tops of the Andes. A visit to Machu Picchu is for most travellers in Peru the highlight of their trip. You can visit Machu Picchu in an organized 2 or 4 days trek or in a 1 or 2 days tour.

When you don’t have a lot of time in Cusco, you can visit Machu Picchu in just one day. You start with a train ride from Cusco to Aguas Caliente, which lies on the banks of the Urubamba river and at the feet of the Machu Picchu mountain. From Aguas Calientes we will take the bus climbing up to Machu Picchu. There you will have a guided tour of 2 or 3 hours by an English speaking guide and after the tour you have some free time to climb Waynu Picchu, to visit the temple of the moon or to take pictures. We take the bus back to Aguas Calientes and from there the train to Cusco.

With the 2 days tour, you leave from Cusco by car to Hidroelectrica. This is an 6 hour ride through a beautiful scenery. First the car is climbing up to Abra Malaga, a mountain pass on 4350 meters. From here you have an incredible view, because the jungle area starts at the other side of the mountain pass. Here we go down into the jungle valley.

The Sacred Valley was a highly appreciated area by the Incas. The Sacred Valley was one of the main areas of food production, because the land is composed of many rivers that descend in the valley.

Itinerary

Early in the morning we start the excursion to the Urubamba Valley, the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will visit the picturesque Indian Pisac Market held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, the shopping paradise of the Andes. After that we will go to the Pisac ruines just above the little town, on the slope of the mountains.
